As summer gets into full swing, the arrival of Wimbledon marks one of the many highlights of the sporting calendar. While we enjoy the excitement and intensity of world-class tennis, it also brings into focus the unique physical demands of the sport.
With rising temperatures across much of the UK and Europe, there’s also renewed attention on the medical implications of competing in the heat—particularly around hydration strategies, heat illness prevention, and the management of exertional stress. These challenges remind us of the vital role Sports and Exercise Medicine plays in supporting athlete health, performance, and recovery.
In this edition, we’ve gathered key insights, articles, and updates that caught our attention last month, in case you missed them. Do let us know if there’s an event you would like us to include in the next edition, or any vacancies you might wish us to highlight.
