Since the launch of SEMPRIS in 2010, we have strived to enhance the terms and benefits of membership whilst supporting the competitive but sustainable subscription rates. We are pleased to advise that 2016 continues to reflect our ambition with the introduction of the following additional benefits.

Six years without rate increases

Reflecting effective underwriting and good claims experience, we are delighted to report the sixth successive year of held subscription rates meaning we haven’t had to increase subscriptions since we launched in 2010. We are not aware of any other scheme that can boast that record.

New cover limit options available

The ‘book’ value and earnings of elite sportspeople are now at the highest level ever due to sponsorship and television deals. In 2010 when we launched SEMPRIS with a £10m limit for any one claim, Mario Balotelli transferred from Inter to Manchester City for a mere £24million!

Members have increasingly voiced their concern over the threat of escalating claim values and in response, SEMPRIS has introduced the option of a £20m Limit of Indemnity for any one claim – a first amongst the UK medical indemnity providers. With effect from 1st January 2016, new and renewing members will have the option of selecting a limit of either £10m or £20m for any one claim. The annual aggregate claim limit will remain at £20m.

Nil Excess option

The use of an excess option to reduce subscriptions costs is not uncommon across general insurance, but this has been a compulsory item since SEMPRIS launched in 2010. Again, in response to feedback we are pleased to advise that, with effect from 1st January 2016, a nil excess option is available to new and renewing Members. Don’t hesitate to contact us to find out more.

A big Thank You to our new Underwriters

The RenaissanceRe (RenRe) Underwriters have supported the SEMPRIS underwriting programme since launch in 2010. The invitation and their decision to lead the programme from January 2016 is further endorsement of their ongoing commitment to SEMPRIS. The enhancements to benefits and limits that have been introduced for 2016 are largely attributable to the flexible and experienced underwriting provided by RenRe and we welcome their commitment and support. With offices around the glob, RenRe is one of the world’s largest and most successful catastrophe reinsurers.
