SEMPRIS was proud to attend and sponsor this year’s Third International Conference on Golf and Health, held in conjunction with the Second International Edinburgh Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Conference. Expertly led by the European Tour’s Professor Andrew Murray, this event brought together leading minds dedicated to advancing the science of movement, recovery, and performance. It was a delight to meet current and prospective members, learn a huge amount about the more ‘behind the scenes’ elements of a golfing super-team and be eyewitness to a debate about grafts for ACL repair from top orthopods in this field, among many fascinating expert presentations.
April also brought us one of golf’s most compelling moments, when Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose battled it out with remarkable composure and skill at the Masters Tournament, finishing with Rory’s record-breaking win, making him the first European golfer to achieve the career Grand Slam. Their duel was a fitting metaphor for the exceptional precision and resilience that underpin elite sport and every one of the medical professionals who support it.
At SEMPRIS, we’ve always believed that protecting the professionals behind performance is just as important as the athletes themselves, and our presence at the conference both reaffirmed this commitment and provided so many reminders of its validity.
As always, here’s a selection of articles, resources and events that caught our attention last month, in case you missed them. Do let us know if there’s an event you would like us to include in the next edition, or any vacancies you might wish us to highlight.
